Ways in which we nearly died II
It seems the M4 has it in for me, after 4 years of relatively trouble free motoring on it (with the exceptions of the expected traffic jams) it has now tried to kill me twice in a month.
First the well documented windscreen incident and then last night a puncture in the fast lane.
Luckily I was able to quickly get to the hard shoulder.
To my eternal masculine shame I did not change the tyre myself, I called the AA, that is the Automobile Association for American readers who would otherwise think I had developed a drink problem.
I didn’t much fancy changing a tyre a few feet from the traffic on one of the busiest roads in the country without some sort of warning system upstream of me, so I stepped away from the car and waited. In the time I was waiting I saw 2 cars go by in the pitch black with absolutely no lights on at all, people scare me.
They were there in about half an hour and put the spare on which was one of those next to useless spacesavers so I had to get the tyre replaced before I could go to work this morning. £100 to replace a tyre that was new in July.
Still no harm done.
